1stLt Bradley was the co-pilot. The last known location of the aircraft was between Sylhet, India and Dinjan, India. His remains were recovered by Graves Registration from the airfield cemetery at Kalaikunda, India, with numerous undistinguishable others and all were buried in a group single-casket grave at the New Albany National Cemetery, New Albany, Indiana, on 17 January 1950 (Sec. F, Grave 103).

 

His brother John D. Bradley, born 12 April 1914, served in the U.S. Army during WW II from 30 January 1942 to 12 November 1946. He died 7 August 1997 and is buried in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

KUNTZ, JOHN FRANK, Staff Sergeant, # 12039907, USAAF

 

John F. Kuntz was born 26 March 1909 in New York City, New York, to John Kuntz (1881-1944) and Antonia (Balek) Kuntz (1881-    ) (both born in Bohemia) (married 4 May 1907 in Manhattan, NY). Siblings included William Kuntz (1908-1986), Anna Kuntz (1910-    ), Charles Kuntz (1912-1971), and Frank Kuntz (changed last name to Kirby) (1918-2001). On 31 January 1931, he married Ethel Bridget McPhillips.

 

He enlisted in the USAAF in New York, New York, on 1 January 1942. On 25 May 1944, at the 10th Air Force airfield at Dinjan, Assam, India, a C-47A, # 42-100614, assigned to the 443rd Troop Carrier Group, 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron, departed on a shuttle flight to Calcutta, India, and return. SSgt. Kuntz was the crew chief (engineer). The last known location of the aircraft was between Sylhet, India and Dinjan, India. His brother, William Kuntz, born 1908, served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class during WW II from 16 March 1942 to 21 October 1945. He died 30 September 1986 and is buried in the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.

 

His brother, Charles Kuntz, born in 1912, enlisted (#32002948) on 23 January 1941. He had completed two years of college. On 1 February 1943, he married Eura Smith Webb in Calhoun, Alabama.

KAUFMAN, HARRY (NMI), Sergeant # 33321051, USAAF

 

Harry Kaufman was born 24 December 1922 in Media, Pennsylvania, to Kaifman “Rafe” Kaufman (1884-1938) and Dora (Galensky) Kaufman (1886-1964) (both born in Russia). Siblings included Rebecca “Reba” Kauufman (1906-1940), Sarah (Kaufman) Mangan (1907-    ), Abraham Kaufman (1911-    ), Isador Kaufman (1912-1982), Maurice “Morris” Kaufman (1915-1986), and Isaac Kaufman (1917-1998).

 

He enlisted in the USAAF on 4 July 1942. He departed for assignment to 10th Air Force in India on 26 January 1943. On 25 May 1944, at the 10th Air Force airfield at Dinjan, Assam, India, a C-47A, # 42-100614, assigned to the 443rd Troop Carrier Group, 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron, departed on a shuttle flight to Calcutta, India, and return. Sgt. Kaufman was the radio operator. The last known location of the aircraft was between Sylhet, India and Dinjan, India.
