Floyd H. Stock was born 17 October 1909 in Blackhawk, Iowa, to William Stock (1875-1961) (MD) and Maria Elizabeth (Pettit) Stock (IA) (1869- ). Siblings included Fred William Stock (1897-1953) (KY), Laurence Stock (1902- ) (IA), Myron Raymond Stock (1905- ) (IA), and Solona Addeline Stock (1905-1987) (KY).
He enlisted at Fort Lewis, Washington, on 2 March 1942. He was trained in the maintenance and function of the mechanics of the C-46. He was sent overseas to India. On 25 May 1944, a C-46A, 42- 23600, upon which he was co-pilot, assigned to the India-China Wing ATC, Station 11, departed the airfield at Missmari, India, on a cargo flight to Kunming, China, at about 0222 hours local. The aircraft did not arrive at its destination. He is remembered on the monument at the Manila American Cemetery & Mausoleum, Philippines.
His sister, Salona A. Bruhn, born 14 September 1905, enlisted in the Womens Army Corps in Portland, Oregon, on 5 June 1944. She married Waggoner. Her grave marker reads “Private, U.S. Army, World War II.” She died Salona B. Waggoner on 6 November 1987. She is buried in the Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Mitchell, Alabama.
His brother, William F. Stock, born 4 June 1897, served as a Private in the U.S. Army Air Service, 15th Balloon Co., (# 1159226) from 18 February 1918 to 7 July 1919 (honorable discharge), who died 7 October 1953 is buried in the Veterans Administration Wood National Cemetery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
