Cornelius D. Cregin was born in 1919 in New York to Cornelius Ditmar Cregin (1887-1934) and Edith Amelia Jane (Miller) Fabregas nee Cregin (1891-1980) (married 1 January 1914, Oyster Bay, NY). A sister was Dorothy Mae (Cregin) Talor (1916-1989). In 1930, mother-in-law Irene Miller (1872-    ), lived with them. In 1917 his father worked for the Coast Steamship Co., 32 Broadway, New York City, NY

 

He enlisted in Jamaica, New York, on 2 April 1941, while living in Kings County, NY. On 25 May 1944, a C-46A, 42- 23600, assigned to the India-China Wing ATC, Station 11, departed the airfield at Missmari, India, on a cargo flight to Kunming, China, at about 0222 hours local. The aircraft did not arrive at its destination. He is remembered on the monument at the Manila American Cemetery & Mausoleum, Philippines. He was awarded the Air Medal.
