THOMPSON, THOMAS H., Sergeant, # 18041093, USAAF

 

Thomas H. Thompson enlisted in the USAAF and was trained in the maintenance and function of the electrical and mechanical systems of the C-47. He earned his crewman wings. He was sent overseas to 10th Air Force and India. On 15 July 1944, a C47A, # 42-93371, assigned to 10th Air Force, 3rd Combat Cargo Group, 10th Combat Cargo Squadron, departed the airfield at Imphal, India, on a mission to Sylhet, India. The C-47A crashed between Sylhey and Imphal at about 0930 hours. Searches were conducted for more than 24 hours. He is remembered on the memorial wall in the Manila American Cemetery & Memorial, Philipines. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

 

TASSON, JOSEPH V., Technical Sergeant, # 36304093, USAAF

 

Joseph V. Tasson was born in 1918 in Michigan. He enlisted in the USAAF at Camp Grant, Illinois, on 7 November 1941. He was trained in the maintenance and operation of the radio equipment on the C-47 and other USAAF transports. He was sent overseas to 10th Air Force in India. On 15 July 1944, a C47A, # 42-93371, assigned to 10th Air Force, 3rd Combat Cargo Group, 10th Combat Cargo Squadron, departed the airfield at Imphal, India, on a mission to Sylhet, India.
