He enlisted in the USAAF in Hawaii, while assigned in 1940 to the 13th Field Artillery, Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, Wahlawa, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was trained to maintain and operate the radio equipment on the B-25 Mitchell. His last assignment was to the 10th Air Force, 80th Air Depot Group, 80th Repair Squadron. He was borrowed from his unit for the sortie. On 19 October 1945 a B-25D, # 43-3669, assigned to 10th Air Force, 47th Depot Repair Group, 47th Depot Repair Squadron, Panagarh, India, departed on a search mission to overfly Cuttack, India. Upon recovery from the American military airfield cemetery at Barrackpore, India, his remains were buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Hawaii (Sec. P, Grave 801).
