Estil A. Bowman Jr. was born on 2 February 1921 in Dallas, Texas, to Estil “Ertie” A. Bowman (1895-1973) (MO) and Nell “Nellie” Norienne (Monday) Bowman (1896-1973) (TX) (married 9 November 1919, Kaufman, TX). A brother was Benjamin Hampton Bowman (1922-1996).

 

He registered for the WWII draft on 16 February 1942, resided at 714 Parkmont, Dallas, Texas, was a student in the University of Texas, and described himself as 6’ ½”, 180 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes. He enlisted in the USAAF in Dallas, Texas, on 27 April 1942. He was trained and sent overseas to India. Assigned to India, he died 12 September 1944. His remains and those of the other crewmen were recovered from the American military cemetery at Barrackpore, India, and were buried in a group ceremony in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Bourbon Co., Kansas (Sec. 2, Grave 1786).

 

His father, born 18 March 1895, served in the U.S. Army, during WW I, from 6 December 1917 to 15 March 1919. He died 22 March 1973 and is buried in the Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas Co., Texas.

 

His brother, Benjamin H. Bowman, born 18 August 1922, served in the U.S. Navy from 13 July 1942 to 5 January 1946. He died 21 October 1996 in Plano, Collins Co., Texas.

ROSENBLUM, SEYMOUR P., Sergeant, # 32620432, USAAF

 

Seymour P. Rosenblum was born in 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, to Abraham Rosenblum (1894-1965) and Minnie P Rosenblum (1902-1981). Siblings included Evelyn Rosenblum (1922-    ), Herbert Rosenblum (1916-    )

                                               

His mother recorded him as a missing Jewish servicemen on 19 April 1946.

 

He enlisted in the USAAF in New York in 1942. He was trained and sent overseas to India. Assigned to India, he died 12 September 1944. His father, born 20 June 1894, served in WW I, inducted 25 July 1918, assigned to 102nd Infantry Regiment, Company H to 29 December 1918 then 101st Infantry Regiment, Company B, to discharge, Private, # 3732394, 28 April 1919. He was overseas from 17 October 1918 to 5 April 1919.

 

His brother, Herbert Rosenblum, born 19 March 1916, enlisted at Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York, in 1942.
