On 1 March 1945, a C-46A-55, # 43-47154, assigned to Air Transport Command, Barrackpore, India, 1340th AAF Base Unit, departed the airfield at Myitkyina, Burma, on a cargo mission to Kunming, China, through the Himalayan mountain range (the Hump). The C-46 was not heard from since its departure at about 1530 Zulu. The crew were:

Capell (1884-1935) and Charlotte May (Montgomery) Capell (1886-    ) (married 14 January 1909, Jefferson Co., NY). His father was a building contractor in 1920, a building carpenter in 1930. He was married to Wave R. Capell, Mexico, New York. He was married to Wava Lucile Rurey (1919-2012) in 1942 in New York.
