PAWLIKOWSKI, FRANK THEODORE, Technical Sergeant, # 35324006, USAAF

 

Frank T. Pawlikowski was born on 8 February 1922 in Ohio to Michael Pawlikowski (1887-1974) and Julia (Dudush) Pawlikowski (1892-1977). Siblings included John Pawlikowski (1913-1987), Ann Pawlikowski (1917-1966), Michael Pawlikowski (1918-2012), Katherine (Pawlikowski) Buisman (1920-1990), William Basil Pawlikowski (1923-2004), Frances Pawlikowski (1928-2010) and another sister.

 

He enlisted in the USAAF on 8 September 1942. He was trained in the maintenance and operation of the mechanical parts and systems on the C-109. He was sent overseas to India. On 2 February 1945, a C-109 transport (B-24 Liberator conversion), # 44-49013, assigned to Air Transport Commnd, CIB, 1327th AAF Base Unit, departed the airfield at Tezpur, India, on a cargo mission to Luliang, China. The last contact with the C-109 was at about 0114 hours IST. The C-109 crashed, the crw killed, 76 miles East of Jorhat, India, at coordinates 26º 46’ 30” North & 95º 21’ East. On 2 February 1945, a C-109 transport (B-24 Liberator conversion), # 44-49013, assigned to Air Transport Commnd, CIB, 1327th AAF Base Unit, departed the airfield at Tezpur, India, on a cargo mission to Luliang, China. After recovery from the military cemetery at Barrackpore, India, his remains were buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Hawaii (Sec. C, Grave 1083).

 

His brother, Michael Pawlikowski Jr., born 27 May 1918, enlisted in the U.S. Army on 31 January 1941. He died on 3 December 2012 in Muskego, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin, and is buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Washburn, Wisconsin.

 

His brother, William B. Pawlikowski, born 21 March 1923, enlisted 4 February 1943. He died on 18 March 2004 in Elyria, Ohio.
