His father, Claude F. Marshall, born 24 August 1892 to Sidney J. Marshall and Adella C. (Jones) Marshall, served during WW I with the 305th Motor Support, and was honorably discharged 1 June 1919. He died 2 August 1926.

MALE, JAMES D., Second Lieutenant, # 0-927738, USAAF

 

James D. Male was born on 28 October 1922 in Syracuse, Onandaha Co., New York, to Leonard W. Male (1897-1984) and Laura D. (Wall) Male (1898-1991). Siblings included William Leonard Male (1921-1991). His father was a farmer in 1925 in Camillus, New Yor, a restaurant manager in 1930 and a utilities clerk in 1940. The family lived in Geddes, Onandaga Co., New York in 1935-40..

 

After enlisting in the USAAF, he completed radar operator instruction through advanced schools and earned his commission and wings. He was sent overseas to India. On 29 March 1945, a B-24M, # 44-50335, assigned to 10th Air Force, 7th Bomb Group, 9th Bomb Squadron, departed the airfield at Pandaveswar, India, on a bombing mission over Rangoon, Burma. It was last seen at coordinates 17º 10’ North & 95º 20’ East, flying west toward the Burma coast (Bay of Bengal). The witnesses who last saw the B-24M were SSgt Owen E. Chester D. Goodwin was born on 30 March 1924 in Indiana to Raymond Amandas Goodwin (1892-1961) and Fairy Methels (Schimpff) Goodwin (1898-1970) (married 30 October 1920 in Calhoun, Michigan). Siblings included Virginia (Goodwin) Hale (1921-2016), Dale Amandas Goodwin (1926-2003), Waneta Fairy (Goodwin) Luttman (1927-1982), Josephine Marie Goodwin (1933-    ), and Landon Goodwin (1936-1936). The family lived in Waterloo, Indiana, in 1933 and his father was then a farmer. The family lived in Smithfield, DeKalb Co., Indiana, in 1940 and his father was then a farmer. Raymond A. Goodwin died in Waterloo, Indiana, in 1961. Fairy M. Goodwin died in Kendallville, Noble Co., Indiana in 1970.
