He had siblings: Dorothy Hansen (1908-   ) and Arthur Hansen (1923-   ).  In 1940 the family lived in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. He enlisted 18 March 1942 in New York (enlisted service # 12053105), while living in Kings County, New York. He may have died on or after 1 December, 1943, after the B-24J upon which he was navigator was shot down after a bombing mission over Insein, Burma. Roy B Emery, born 20 September 1922 in Bronx, New York, New York, listed as next of kin, his mother, Alice W. Emery, New York, New York. He died on 1 December 1943 when the B-24J upon which he was serving as bombardier on a bombing mission over Insein, Burma, was shot down in the Bassein region of Burma. Some crew bailed out. The family placed a memorial marker in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, New York.
