Armin J. Ortmeyer Jr. was an exceptional young man, like many of those lost during WW II. His name was listed as one of the 3,540 men lost from the State of Florida and one of the 22 Tampa heroes and 244 University of Florida alumni who died in the war. The ghostly figure of the "missing" American to the left was featured in the Tampa Tribune listing those lost. The 26 May 1941 reported he would be sent to Camp Blanding on 5 June for training.
