On 19 October 1945 a B-25D, # 43-3668, assigned to 10th Air Force, 47th Depot Repair Group, 47th Hqs Squadron, Panagarh, India, departed the airfield on a flight to overfly Cuttack on a search mission, land at Vizagapatam and return to Cuttack. The B-25 could not be found on radio search at any station and it crashed. The crew was:

Charles S. McDougall was born in 1918 in Missouri to Laurance McDougall (1888-1969) and Bertha M. (Schisler) McDougall (1889-1981) (MO) (married 13 November 1911, Clayton, St. Louis Co., MO). Sibling was Laurance Wilson McDougall (1913-1990). He was married to Genevieve “Jenny” Field (Davis) Coleman nee McDougall (1919-1999). His maternal grandmother was living with them in 1930, Clara L. (Reichenbeche) Schisler (1865-1931).
He enlisted in the USAAF as an aviation cadet at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, while he resided in Goliad, Goliad Co., Texas. He completed flight instruction through advanced school and was assigned to fly the B-25 Mitchell. He earned his commission and pilot wings. He was sent to India. On 19 October 1945 a B-25D, # 43-3668, assigned to 10th Air Force, 47th Depot Repair Group, 47th Hqs Squadron, Panagarh, India, departed the airfield on a flight to overfly Cuttack on a search mission, land at Vizagapatam and return to Cuttack. The B-25 could not be found on radio search at any station and it crashed thirteen miles from Udayagiri, India. After recovery, his remains were buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, on 25 February 1949 (Sec. 34, Grave 4784).
