His brother, Eugene G. Fiske, born 22 September 1929, served in the U.S. Navy from 24 February 1952, retired Lieutenant Commander (24-year career), through Korea and Vietnam (1971-1972). He died 6 December 2012 and is buried in the Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon. He served on the U.S.S. Ronquil (SS-396), the U.S.S. Barbel (SS-580) and the U.S.S. Bushnell (AS-15).


His paternal grandfather, Franklin Wheelock Fisk, born 1 Fewbruary 1851, served in the Civil War, Union Army, Captain, 4th Illinois Cavalry. He died 11 December 1910.

HILL, ROBERT KARL, Second Lieutenant, # 0-774655, USAAF


Robert K. Hill was born on 2 August 1923 in Los Angeles Co., California, Hill and Elizabeth (Nicholas) Vidor nee Hill. He graduated from Beverly Hills High School. In 1942, he was living with his step-father, King Vidor and his mother, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Vidor (1901-   ) (ME). In 1930 he was living with his maternal grandparents, Harry E. Nicholas (1873-1970) (OH) and Blanche Isabel (Williamson) Nicholas (1872-    ) (OH) in Los Angeles, CA.


He registered for the WWII draft on 30 June 1942, a student, resided at 1636 Summit Ridge Drive, Beverly Hills, L.A. Co., CA, and described himself as 5’10”, 140 lbs, with blond hair and green eyes. After enlisting in the USAAF, he completed flight instruction through advanced school, was multi-engine rated, and were assigned to fly the Curtiss C-46 Commando. He earned his commission and pilot wings. He was sent overseas through India to China. He was assigned to the 1343rd AAF Base Unit but was co-pilot on his last flight. On 7 April 1945 a Curtiss C-46A-55CK Commando, # 43-47211, assigned 10th Air Force, ATC, 2nd Troop Carrier Squadron, Luliang, China, departed the airfield at Hanchung, China, on a cargo mission to Peishiyi, China. It crashed enroute. He is remembered on the tablets of the missing in the Manila American Cemetery & Memorial, Philippines.
